bogus History

The agriturismo Fornace del Conte is a fully restored Leopoldian house from the 18th century. The restoration project was managed by the interior designer Francesco Melone, from the Alecci and De Paola studio in Rome. It is thanks to them that the houses have been furnished with fittings, furniture and objets d’art that were designed and made specifically for this location in order to create a unique design experience.
Constructed during the reign of the Grand Duke Pietro leopoldo II, la Fornace, following the unification of Italy at the end of the 1800s, was passed on to the Count Bastoggi, whose coat of arms is still visible today on the facade of the building.

La Fornace del Conte is steeped in the rich history of Montepulciano and the Valdichiana: immediately apparent to those with an eye for ancient Tuscan traditions are the 18th century arches of hand made red bricks and the striking cross-vaulted ceiling in the main house. At the centre of the vaulted ceiling is an octagonal shape, around which can be seen various images in bass relief, including the crest of the current owners. The octagonal vaulted ceiling was the inspiration for Francesco Melone as he created the design for the “Fornace del Conte” brand. The representation of the key of the vaulted ceiling is an element that reflects the history and ambience of the location ,while the key to the house symbolizes the distictive characteristics of Tuscan hospitality as with theopening sentence of this presentation: ‘the key to hospitality in the noble heart of Tuscany’
