Il Ferro

La casa del ferro is situated on the inside of the group of annexes and is divided into two floors. The apartment has been furnished with respect for the history of the building and the area , while also incorporating the modern touch of contemporary design. As its name indicates, the space, furniture and objects were designed in order to evoke ferro (iron) , a distinctive element in farming culture.
Entering, on the ground floor there is a large open space separated from the ancient arch of ‘cotto’ bricks’, which have also been used for the flooring. On the left, below an ample galleried level, is the bathroom, a veritable treasure decorated with mosaic in Bisazza glass in black and copper tones, the sink is made of volcanic stone and the large shower also offers hydromassage designed by Ritmonio and Flaminia.

In the living room there are two leather sofas, designed by Fabio Alecci, the sides of which display the original upholstery in vegetable fibre. In the centre of the wall is the unique semispherical iron fireplace by Focus, with a long chimney flue that invites the eye upwards towards the wooden beams of the ceiling above.

The kitchen in iron and steel has been specially designed to fit in with the context of this house, it creates the backdrop for the iron and copper table and six baroque style chairs, restored and reconfigured by Alecci, using rubber rope and leather. A large staircase leads to the bedroom, where the iron bed has been adapted with rubber rope and strips of copper, as has the wardrobe that has the appearance of an over-sized safe mounted on glass discs. The double mansard roof underlines the intimacy of this room and the long window offers breathtaking views of the Montepulciano hills that add to the extraordinary beauty of this location.
